Importance of Being Consistent With Chiropractic Care

Posted on 03.28.17 | Leave a Comment

chiropractic care in Las VegasWhile chiropractic care is very useful for a variety of injuries and conditions, a good chiropractor doesn’t make promises they can’t keep. This includes guaranteeing success after a single treatment. Chiropractic care is a form of therapy, and therapy rarely works instantaneously.  Dr. Grimes often says, “symptoms are always the last thing to show up, and the first to go away”.  Being symptom free, doesn’t guarantee optimal health and function.

The fact is that any medical treatment requires patient cooperation and compliance to be effective. While there’s nothing wrong with a second opinion, jumping around among different treatment types leaves you with gaps in your care. Inconsistent treatment is simply never as effective as when you adhere to a planned treatment schedule.

Treatment of Disease and Injury
If you have pain or dysfunction resulting from a disease or injury, consistent chiropractic care is of the utmost importance. Even if you experience improvement, your injury or condition can easily relapse or worsen without consistent treatment. It’s important that you complete your treatment course so that your injury is fully rehabilitated and strengthened.  Once your condition is stabilized, Dr. Grimes will educate you on the benefits of continued maintenance, or wellness care.

Maintenance Treatment
When it comes to regular visits, think of your chiropractor the same as you would your dentist. Sure, you see your dentist if you have tooth pain or notice a problem, but you also visit your dental office every six months regardless of dental issues. You keep the schedule to receive cleanings, or prophylactic treatment, as well as to check for any hidden problems.

It’s the same with chiropractic care. If you’re not experiencing pain or other issues, that’s great – but you should still come in regularly for examinations and preventative care. Dr. Grimes can let you know the ideal frequency for such care.

Spinal misalignments, or subluxations, can occur without injury or pain. It’s crucial that these be identified and corrected in a timely manner. Otherwise, they can worsen and end up causing extreme pain, movement restriction and other disease symptoms. You can help yourself stay healthy and active through regular and consistent chiropractic care.
